The OpenSourceEV NextGen Phone Mount is the latest generation of the best phone mount on the market for Rivian R1T and R1S. It's a completely redesigned mount that installs at the very top of the driver side or passenger side outboard vents. It's positioned perfectly - easily in reach of the driver or passenger, and outside of the shadow of the steering wheel.

The NextGen Phone Mount continues the precedents set by the last generation phone mounts we released:

    1. The mount is constructed of ASA for excellent durability, UV resistance, and temperature resistance of up to 300 degrees.
    2. The ball mount is modular allowing for easy swaps if you move to a different phone holder or easy replacement should something break.
    3. The ball mount is now modular, allowing for a quick swap between sizes without having to purchase a new mount and without having to deinstall the base.
    4. The layers are secured in place by an M5 x 35MM steel bolt and nut.

The NextGen Phone Mount is compatible with all three ball sizes - 17MM, 20MM and 1 Inch. One of these is included, other are sold separately. The 17MM works with most phone mounts, 20MM works with the co-branded Offroam x Peak Designs products (link below), and a 1" size designed for RAM branded items only. If you're not sure what to get, we recommend the 17MM setup.

Please note that this mount alone will not hold a phone in your Rivian - it is designed to be an attachment for a 3rd party phone holder. Phone holders pictured are not included. We suggest the LISEN Phone Holder available on OpenSource EV for the most secure, compatible setup.

We've also tested and suggest the following phone holders that are known to work well with this mount:

works well after modification

In order to install this properly, I had to shorten the screw by 4mm and then superglue the nut into the slot where it goes - first attempts to install this with the too long screw resulted in the nut stripping the slot so it kept turning without tightening. Once installed with the shortened screw and nut glued in, it works well.

Simple elegant solution for a driver side phone mount.

Very simple to install but it's rock solid. Paired this with the Offroam + Peak Design MagSafe charger. Now I have a perfect view of my phone, unlike the mount I tried before which was next to the main display where my phone was mostly obscured by the steering wheel. Much happier with this one and its location.

I previously had purchased the left hand drivers side mount they made. I installed it and it never really fit right where it was supposed to against the A pillar. It’s worked for almost a year but had recently been more problematic. So,I saw that they had improved that design and decided to give it a go. I’ve installed it and it is by far a better fit design. It holds the phone mount snugly and should continue to do so indefinitely. Very glad I made the swap.

exactly what I needed

This mount is exactly what I was looking for. Secure and unobtrusive. Much safer than glancing down at the phone on the charging pad. I bought the kit with the Lisen holder and it works great. Also got one for the passenger side and my wife loves it.
