Our Mission

The mission of OpenSource EV Parts is to serve the Rivian Owners community by creating bespoke parts that make the vehicles more comfortable, personal, and enjoyable to use.

We are strong proponents of the power of the open source movement and the collaboration and communication that is integral to it. We commit to release all of our designs for remix and free personal use.

Who We Are

OpenSource EV Parts is a brand of Motorcycle Insight LLC, founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2007. What started as a single 3D print posted to a Rivian Owners forum in 2022 has grown into the most comprehensive collection of 3D printed accessories made specifically for the Rivian R1S and R1T.

Every product is designed by Rivian owners, tested in Rivian vehicles, and manufactured in-house in Pittsburgh using Bambu Labs printers and ASA filament -- a material chosen for its UV resistance and temperature resilience up to 300 degrees F.

Open Source by Default

All of our product designs are published on Printables under a Creative Commons NC-SA 4.0 license. If you have a 3D printer or access to one (check your local library) you can download the STL files and print any of our products at no cost. If you want to remix or improve a design, you are welcome to do that too.

We sell finished products for those who want something ready to install, backed by a one-year warranty and direct customer support. But the designs belong to the community.

Community-Driven Design

Several of our products are designed in collaboration with community members. The Seat Back Attachment System was designed by Todd Stansell. The Cargo Floor Riser was designed by Kelvin Lee. These partnerships let us bring the best ideas from the Rivian community to a wider audience while ensuring the designers get credit for their work.

We incorporate owner feedback into every product revision and actively participate in the Rivian Forums, Reddit, and owner groups.
