The OpenSourceEV NextGen Aux Cupholder for the Rivian R1S and R1T is our latest way to add additional placed for your drinks to vehicle. They remain unobtrusive and easy to install - and now completely toolless to put together.

All NextGen Aux Cup Holder are two pieces - a mounting hanger that hangs on the vehicle and a cup that clips onto the hanger. The NextGen Cupholder is available in five different hangers and two different cup sizes.

PLEASE NOTE: Main photo shows all cup sizes and hangers. This product is sold as a single cup size and hanger.

Hangers:

Front Door (High)
The window bracket lets you hang a cup holder from the windowsill.  There is a small gap with weather stripping it fits into, separate from where the window is.  When it's installed it sits a few millimeters away from the window and does not affect its use. The wood trim on the doors protrudes slightly beyond everything else, so the bracket is designed to rest on the leather portion to not scratch the wood.

Rear Door (High)
The rear door bracket is similar to the front door model, but it's longer to account for the deeper sill of the rear doors. It installs in the same channel and does not contact the wood.

Door Pocket (Front / Rear R1S Only)
This attaches to most door pockets. It works on all front doors, and the rear doors of the R1S. It does not work on the rear doors of the R1T. It's designed to be long and squeeze the ridged door pockets for stability.

To install this on the R1S rear doors, the rear seat needs to be slid all of the way back. Both sizes of cup holder clear a-ok when the seat is in the rear most position. This is shown in the photo with the cup and straw in the Rivian with the Ocean Coast interior.

Rear (R1T Only)
This installs over the front of the under-seat storage of the R1T. Fold up the driver's side and slide it over the front to install in place.

Center Console (Passenger)
This wedges itself between the trim pieces on the storage area in front of the center console.  It works best to attach it by angling it up by about 45 degrees, hook the back onto the edge, then while holding the clip firmly onto the edge, lower the cup. About halfway down it should snap down the rest of the way as the bracket slides between the two trim pieces.

Please note that you should be mindful when installing the center console mount. If you move the passenger seat forward enough, it can jam on the cup holder and potentially twist and deform the plastic it installs into.

Cups:

Standard
79MM wide at the top, 71MM wide at the bottom, and 89MM tall. This size is designed to hold most common drink sizes such as cans, 20oz plastic bottles, most fast-food drinks, and 20ish oz vacuum insulated cups. This size is shown in pictures with soda - both the 20oz bottle and 12oz can. It's also shown with a cup in it.

Large
92MM wide all the way through, and 102MM tall. This size is designed for common 40z water bottles and mugs. This size is shown in pictures with the black 40oz bottle.

Each version flexes slightly and has a cutout down the side so you can insert cups that have a handle on them. Neither size is stowable in the door side pocket as they are too wide, but they can ride in the area above the pocket and will largely stay in place, even when slamming the door in most cases.

Before purchasing, we strongly recommend measuring the cups you're looking to install.

Bad fit, falls instantly

I purchased the newer designed holder with the High Rear door hanger. It falls off instantly because it doesn't clamp strongly or deeply enough into the window seal crevice.

Hi Dev - Thanks for the review. This is not expected behavior, and our testing (as recently as this week) has confirmed that this mount works properly in multiple years of Rivian vehicles. There is a potential that you received a defective item - please contact us so we can get a replacement out to you.

Fits perfectly & great customer service!

Don’t have pictures but they work perfectly as advertised. I got the center console large & the front pocket large and my 40oz thermoflask (from Costco) fit perfectly. Highly recommended to anyone who doesn’t like having their big water bottle obstruct the buttons on the screen.

Moreover, they sent the wrong clip for the front pocket cup holder and responded within an hour with a new replacement order. 10/10!

Photo needs to be changed

Overall they work pretty well. The high holder has a tendency to pop off if there is not a drink in it. Lower one works fine. My biggest negative has to do with the picture of the product and the completed order sheet. It left me with the impression that I was going to get 4 cup holders.
