Aux Cup Holder Kit for Rivian R1S & R1T

The OpenSourceEV Aux Cup Holder Kit is a modular, door-mounted drink holder for the Rivian R1S and R1T that installs without any tools and locks in place. Designed by Todd Stansell, manufactured and sold by OpenSourceEV, and extensively tested in Rivian vehicles.

The Rivian is short on places to put a drink. The Aux Cup Holder Kit solves that by hanging a cup holder from your door at a comfortable height for passenger reach. Choose from three door-mounted locations, pick your cup size, and you're done.

What's New

All three door hangers have been updated for improved hold:

• The front and rear high-door hangers now feature a dual-hook design. A second hook locks underneath the interior trim piece where the overhead lighting is, keeping the front of the hanger firmly in place as you pull your drink out.
• The door pocket hanger has been reworked for a tighter fit against the door card. Less wiggle, more stability.

What Makes This Different

• Modular by Design: One cup, one hanger, three door-mount locations. Add more hangers or cups separately to put drinks wherever your passengers need them.
• Tool-Free Assembly: The cup clips onto the hanger with no tools required. The hanger installs by hand.
• Locking System: Includes retaining pins that lock the cup onto the hanger so it stays put on the road. The same retaining pins are compatible with the BeverageStation, BeverageStation Mini, and QuickGrip Cup Holder.
• Two Cup Sizes: Standard (79mm top / 71mm bottom / 89mm tall) fits cans, 20oz plastic bottles, most fast-food cups, and 20oz-ish insulated bottles. Large (92mm / 102mm tall) fits 40oz water bottles and mugs.
• Handle-Friendly: Both cup sizes flex slightly and have a side cutout to accommodate cups with handles.
• Open Source Design: Design files are publicly available for personal use and remix.

Available Hangers

• Front Door (High) -- Updated: Hangs from the door windowsill channel, fitting into the gap with the weather stripping. Sits a few millimeters from the glass and does not affect window operation. Rests on the leather portion of the door to avoid contact with wood trim. The updated design adds a second hook that locks onto the trim piece where the interior lighting is, keeping the front of the hanger firmly in place as you pull your cup out.
• Rear Door (High) -- Updated: Same installation method as the front door hanger, but longer to account for the deeper rear door sill. Does not contact wood trim. The updated design adds the same second hook that locks onto the interior lighting trim piece for improved stability.
• Door Pocket (Front / Rear R1S Only) -- Updated: Squeezes onto the ridged door pocket for a secure friction fit. The updated design sits tighter against the door card for less wiggle and better stability. Works on all front doors and the rear doors of the R1S. Does not fit the R1T rear doors. For R1S rear installation, slide the rear seat all the way back first -- both cup sizes clear in that position.

Cup Sizes

• Standard: 79mm wide at the top, 71mm at the bottom, 89mm tall. Fits most common drink sizes -- cans, 20oz plastic bottles, most fast-food cups, and 20oz-ish vacuum insulated bottles.
• Large: 92mm wide throughout, 102mm tall. Designed for 40oz water bottles and mugs.

Neither size fits in the door side pocket (both are too wide), but both can ride in the area above the pocket and will generally stay in place even when the door is closed firmly. We strongly recommend measuring your cups before ordering.

Part of the OpenSourceEV Cup Holder Line

The Aux Cup Holder Kit shares its attachment mechanism and retaining pins with the QuickGrip Cup Holder, so parts carry over if you add on later. If you find you need more beverage storage in the front of the cabin, the BeverageStation Mini holds two drinks and the full BeverageStation holds three. All designs are modular and individual parts are available as replacements -- you never have to rebuy the whole product.

Installation

1. Select the hanger for your desired mounting location and install it by hand per the hanger-specific instructions above.
2. Clip the cup onto the hanger until it seats.
3. Insert the retaining pin to lock the cup in place (optional).
4. To remove, reverse the process.
